Welcome to the 2007 Buyer's Guide, Endovascular Today's second annual comprehensive overview of the procedures and devices currently in use by vascular interventionists.
After publishing our first edition last winter, we were delighted with the favorable response the Buyer's Guide received from both physicians and industry. Almost immediately, we began planning for the 2007 edition, with the primary goal of maintaining the guide's broad coverage of the endovascular field. We believe we set the bar high last year, and any subsequent effort must meet or exceed that standard.
Our secondary goal was to find a fresh way to present the material to differentiate this year's Buyer's Guide from its predecessor. You may recall that last year's Buyer's Guide was divided into two sections; the first included procedural descriptions and device recommendations for nearly every endovascular procedure, with each topic covered by multiple physicians from various specialties. The second section consisted of complete product listings for all of the devices used in today's endovascular procedures, including the specific indications, sizes, and unique features of each.
This year, the Buyer's Guide is again composed of a series of articles covering the majority of endovascular procedures currently in use, as well as fully updated product listings organized by external tabs for ease in searching for specific devices. However, to keep the material fresh and its presentation interesting, we have asked the physician authors to contribute either a comprehensive overview article on a particular procedure, or to be one of several participants in a roundtable discussion.
Due to the hard work and expertise of the physicians who graciously gave their time and effort to this project, we believe that both sets of articles provide a solid foundation of information for any interventionist, from fellows about to embark on their careers, to the experienced pioneers who have advanced endovascular care to its current state of excellence. The overview articles provide procedural details, current data, descriptions of available devices, and tips and tricks for optimizing outcomes. The roundtables are candid and spirited discussions about the current state of particular therapies, in which experts share their thoughts on the strengths, weaknesses, ideal applications, and cases to avoid with today's available technologies.
As always, we are indebted to our Chief Medical Editors, our Editorial Advisory Board, and all of the physicians who share their experiences with our readers by contributing original articles for publication. We also thank our industry partners for their support and assistance in compiling the product listings, and we look forward to working with all of you in the coming year.
Regards,
Craig McChesney
